🗓️ Monthly Educational Meetings

Written by Don Locke on August 11, 2025

The South West Idaho Amateur Radio Club meets on the first Thursday of every month at Idaho Pizza Company in Meridian.

  • Social Hour: 6:00 PM – Come early, grab a slice, and chat with fellow radio enthusiasts.
  • Presentation: 7:00 PM – Settle in for an engaging talk on a ham radio–related topic.

If you can’t attend in person, our meetings are live streamed and recorded on YouTube so you can watch from anywhere, anytime.

What to Expect

Each month, one of our club members (or a special guest) gives a presentation on a topic related to amateur radio. Past presentations have covered:

  • How repeaters work and how to use them
  • Meteor scatter and other exciting propagation modes
  • Building and tuning antennas
  • Portable operations for Parks on the Air (POTA)
  • Emergency communications and preparedness

If you have a passion, project, or skill you’d like to share, we’d love to have you present!

Who Can Attend?

Everyone is welcome—club member or not! Whether you’re a seasoned ham, just getting started, or simply curious about the hobby, you’ll find our meetings to be:

  • Educational – Learn something new every month
  • Hands-on – See live demonstrations and examples
  • Social – Meet friendly people who share your interest in radio

So come on down, enjoy some good food, and spend an evening talking about all things ham radio. We look forward to seeing you there!
